The National Automobile Museum (Il Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile di Torino) is one of the oldest and most important automobile museums in the world, and no visit to Turin would be complete without a stop there.
Not surprising, the exceptional collection focuses on styling, with vehicles dating back to 1769. It is housed not far from the Lingotto in a building which was completely renovated in 2011.

Lingotto Fiat Factory
In the afternoon, we will visit one of Italy's most famous buildings, the former Fiat factory. The five-story building, built from 1916-1923, was the largest car factory in the world at that time. It was unique in that raw materials came in on the ground floor, and a spiral production line worked its way up to the top. On the roof (which you will visit) is a test track with banked curves at each end and spectacular views of Turin and the surrounding mountains.

The factory was completely transformed between 1982 and 2002 by the noted Genoese architect Renzo Piano. (Piano made his reputation with his design of the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris in the 1970s.)
In the other wing of the Lingotto building is Gallery8, Turin's largest shopping complex, one-half mile long with 90 stores, 11 movie theaters and 14 restaurants.
Across the street in the renovated Carpano vermouth factory is Eataly Torino, a gastronomic megacenter created by Oscar Farinetti, a businessman from Alba. Eataly has 8 thematic restaurantini, as well as the high-end Ristorante Casa Vicina, plus a gelateria. It covers 118,000 square feet and has 48,000 bottles of wine and beer on display.
We will visit the Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli , the private collection of the Agnellis, the owners of Fiat and one of Italy's richest and most powerful families. This museum is small, with only 25 works of art, but each piece is of the highest quality. Among them are paintings by Édouard Manet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani and Pablo Picasso.
